BLKDNM

WWJD. What Would Johan Do? Or better yet, what won't Johan do? And what is Johan about to do? Johan Lindeberg, the man behind way too many successes in the industry will continue to build his resume with the launch of BLK DNM this Spring. Beginning as CEO of self named denim brand,  J.Lindeberg has grown to become one of the biggest names out of Scandinavia, and the list doesn't stop there. CEO at Diesel, Founder at Paris86, and Creative Director at William Rast are a few of the wild stints he calls career experience. With the Spring launch of BLK DNM (pronounced black denim) Lindeberg looks to create a retail concept for the line that is a little different than we're used to. He explains that he'd like to cut out the retail part altogether, making the line available to customers online or in the brand's own free standing shops (also offering the threads at wholesale prices..like!). Eight looks for women, and Eight looks for men will make up BLK DNM's big debut that he also chose to name as "Seasonless". An term that assists Lindeberg's idea that the collection should be available to consumers immediately, rather than six months after their first viewing. No need for seasons in Johan's books. We like how he's thinking. Photos above are from Tuesday night's star-studded BLK DNM launch party at 18 Wooster, in Manhattan. photocreds:style.com,

jasonwu

Multiple pieces of dainty decadence stormed down NYFW's runway during Jason Wu's Fall 2011 Preview. The Manhattan based, Tawainese-American designer never fails to impress. Are you surprised? Every collection has a little more silk and sparkle than the last, duh. Wu's success as a young designer is something to note on top of his endless red carpet worthy resume. His client list continues to boast 5 star names like Michelle Obama, Ivanka Trump, Coco Rocha, Reese Witherspoon, and many more. Hard to believe that Jason Wu only decided to take up his design passion during his final year of high school. A touch of Parson's design, an intern stint with Narcisco Rodriguez, buttloads of long strenuous hours in studios and showrooms, and boom he's dressing the first Lady! If only it were that easy. Øverland

Half way through New York Fashion Week, and our bookmarked websites are flourishing with updates. We've been refreshing our true and trusted source, style.com all weekend and are no longer searching for a lack of fashion feed. The material just keeps coming. Last night, Elise Øverland took the music, models, and trade vip's to an informally 'cool' runway with temperatures to match. Models stood in Øverland's Fall pieces, as figure skaters from the Ice Theater of New York twirled around the 'not so blue-lines' of The Standard Hotel's outdoor rink. Cool. And the pieces? Fabolous. The Norwegian born designer worked with a bubbly palette, opting for colors much lighter than most Fall recipes call for. The pastels were said to have been chosen lightly based on how it would reflect the lighting, to then hit a frozen runway. They really do think of everything, when it comes to NYFW. We're excited to see what kind of tricks some of the other designers may have up their silk, leather, and ruffle cuffed sleeves. Keep the news feeds coming! photocreds: style.com

collaborate

Remember Elin? Chic, Edgy, Blonde, Swede..Queen of Stockholm's Fashion scene? Got a sense of style that could serve as a lethal weapon in the game of wardrobry. Well she's now got even more to add to her resume. The woman has successfully cemented her name into a whole new territory. Blogger turns designer? How about, Blogger turns designer for mutli million dollar retail chain? While most H&M guest-collaborations are joint with big established names (and equally as big resumes), this project proves otherwise. Introducing.....Elin Kling for H&M. Yes, it happened. I refreshed my page 4 times on my first read too. How does she do it?
My last post touched on her upcoming spring projects that involve the launch of her very own magazine (which was already impressive), and then this pops up like it aint no thing. Just a little side project, Elin? Kling's collaboration with the International retail chain launched in select stores throughout Sweden on February 3rd, of 2011. Photos above from Style by Kling summarize the collection in a nutshell of fantastic candids. photocreds: stylebykling

bilson

Rachel Bilson's recent tabloid turbulence due to the status of her engagement with on and off beau, Hayden Christensen sure isn't getting in the way of the woman's styling abilities. Her latest appearance en route to a taping with our favorite late night lady, Chelsea Handler stopped us in our tracks. She's looking like she's walked right out of a J Crew look book, and on to a Santa Monica side street. How cute is that blazer! The Pamela Love necklace on the other hand could easily be swapped with a MAD Roxy bullet necklace, right? And why not throw in a few jewel tones with a MAD dainty Sheba bracelet. And the Chanel....ok you get the idea. We'll start with some smaller scaled wishes. Could definitely get used to stumbling upon more of Bilson's pretty paparazzi's however. Let the style crushing continue. photocreds: gossipcenter
