MendelPREFALL
We recently caught a glimpse of J Mendel's Pre-Fall 2011 preview and are absolutely swoon. Mendel's past work for the New York City Ballet is quite apparent through the collection's ornate fabric swatches and organza'd gowns. Delicate chiffons, bits of lace, tulles, and neutral hues reflect the former tutu tailor's balletic inspiration, while structured silhouettes steer the collection clear onto an avant garde runway. The whole preview has us wanting more. It looks as if J Mendel threw a swanky party at The Plaza and had valet boys snapping the runway looks as the same model came and left (12 times). Loving the combination of pretty chiffon dresses topped with bulky fur layers, and oversized wool coats, as if she borrowed her guy's cloak for the 10 foot trott to the limo. Forget summer.. can we skip to Fall already? And J, what are the chances of getting us on guest list for next season's posh party? photocreds: style.com
